Berkeley Castle can be yours, exclusively for your special event. Our experienced event co-ordinator will be available through-out the process to look after you and your partner, as well as your family and friends. Together with expert and friendly stewards, caterers and cloakroom staff, Berkeley Castle offers a unique and intimate service in a stunning location.
The Castle
Berkeley Castle is one of the most remarkable buildings in the Country and possibly the most outstanding example of Mediaeval domestic architecture in Britain. It is a fairytale Castle with its warm pink stone that glows softly in the sunset. Outside, the keep wall drops to the Great Lawn below; but inside the Courtyard the building is very intimate in scale, with uneven battlements, small towers, arched doors and windows of every shape and size.
English history has been lived out within the walls of the Castle and the most remarkable thing is that for nine centuries, the building, the Berkeley Family, the archives, the contents and the estate have all survived together. The Castle is the oldest building in the country to be inhabited by the same family who built it.
A day to remember
Guests arrive via the Main Entrance to the Castle. From the car park guests are directed to the Outer Bailey and through the Gate House into the Courtyard, surrounded by 1000 years of history and architecture. Walking through the Clock Tower Entrance, via the Grand Staircase brings guests into the Great Hall and the Drawing Rooms. Weather permitting, parts of the Castle Gardens can also be used for your event, such as Queen Elizabeth’s Bowling Lawn, the Lily Pond and the Gun Terrace. In the winter, real fires can be lit in the Great Hall and the Long Drawing Room, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere.
Ceremonies and receptions
As well as receptions Berkeley Castle is also licensed to hold Civil Weddings and Civil Partnerships in six of the public rooms within the Castle for 30 -150 guests. Receptions can also be held in some of these rooms, depending on the size of your party.

Prices detailed in our brochure are for exclusive use of Berkeley Castle and include the use of Castle tables and chairs, stewards and cloakroom staff.

Guided Tours
During your event we can arrange short guided tours of the Castle for your guests who are interested in the Castle and its history –most are delighted to have the opportunity to explore this fascinating building.

We can also advise on accommodation providers, local florists, transport options (including horse-drawn carriages!), musicians and entertainment.
